Locheilside

Locheilside is a request stop serving scattered houses in the Loch Eil area. The area is very attractive with great views across Loch Eil but unfortunately the view from the station is obscured by the line-side trees. Because of the small local population and limited opportunities for tourists, this station has a low passenger footfall (an average of one passenger every alternate day).

The Station does provide plenty of information for passengers!

A Mallaig – Fort William – Glasgow train passing the head of Loch Eil in early spring.

The above pictures illustrate that travelling on the West Highland Line is equally, if not more, rewarding outside the busy summer season. The train on the left is half way between the head of Loch Eil and Glenfinnan. The train, above right is nearer Glenfinnan and is descending after having made the climb from the Glenfinnan viaduct.

Accommodation (very close by).
