Revamp of Queen Street Station

The picture on the left is a computer generated image, supplied by Network Rail, of how the interior of Queen Street Station will look in 2020 when the £120 million redevelopment is completed. Queen Street is Scotland’s 3rd busiest station and is being transformed to allow for platform extension to accommodate eight carriage trains which will take up much of the existing pedestrian space under the original Victorian glazed arched roof. To accommodate passengers and provide almost double the present space a new glass fronted concourse is being built out towards George Square and the existing Victorian vaulted roof refurbished and integrated into the new design. This promises to be a vast improvement on the past (refer to the Queen Street Station page on this website).
