NEW CHAIRMAN!

After a very long and successful stint as Chairman, Doug Carmichael has decided to retire.  We are so grateful to him for all his years of dedicated service.  But he will be staying on as Magazine Editor.

Hamish Baillie has been elected as our new Chairman.

“I was a career railwayman, starting on the West Highland Line at Fort William in 1977 and then working through various grades and locations, finishing as one of the senior Train Planning Managers for Railtrack Scotland before going in to Consultancy work. One of my best achievements was working alongside Frank Roach of Hitrans on ‘Room For Growth’ studies, one based on improving train services in the Far North in 2008, and the other on services on the Oban line in 2014. Since retiring I have, in a sense, finished my railway career on the West Highland Line, working on the Jacobite and Glenfinnan Station Museum.”
